There’s something stirring in the foothills—a hum of laughter, and the smell of barbecues on the breeze. On Saturday, 6 December, the Heartwood Park Festival will bring Whitby Town to life with a celebration of family, and community beneath the open sky.
From 3pm to 5pm, Heartwood Park will transform into a festival of sights, sounds, and smiles. We are celebrating the opening of our new Park Warrior obstacle course (ages 12+) with community games and races with prizes, face painting and craft stations, native and farm animal encounters, and a free sausage sizzle. An ice cream van is also available and free for the first 100 kids!
Set against the rolling backdrop of the beautiful landscape, this free family event marks more than just a day in the park—it’s the start of something special. It’s Whitby’s way of saying we’re here. A new chapter for a growing community that’s grounded in the old-fashioned goodness of country life, yet just a stone’s throw from the city.
Bring a picnic rug, find a patch of grass beneath the gums, and soak up the atmosphere that feels a bit like the country fairs we grew up with—but reimagined for today’s families.
